July.

L’Etape du Tour 2018. The biggie. L’Etape du Tour.

The 2018 Etape du Tour will take place on Sunday July 8. Riders will tackle stage ten of the Tour de France from Annecy to Le Grand-Bornand in the Alps.

The 169km course, features four major climbs – the Col de la Croix Fry, Montée du plateau de Glières, Col de Romme and Col de la Colombière – and a stretch of dirt road on a historic plateau.

This is my account of the event last year.

The Prudential Ride London also takes place on the 29th of July and we will be taking part in this very popular London ride. It is a 100 miles (160kms) long and starts in the Olympic velodrome in the East End of London and winds its way through central and West London into Surrey and back into the finish in London on the mall.

August.

The Annual ‘Great Belgian Grand Prix Road Trip’.

Thurs Aug 23- Mon Aug 27.

Late in August, we go on our annual and increasingly popular speedy road-trip to the Belgian Grand Prix at Spa Francorchamps.  The trip this year is shaping up to be a fantastic one. We will be spending two days in Amsterdam and two days in Brussels and we will have even more exotic and powerful machinery. We will have about 10 cars in total, including 2 911 GT3’s, and 2 911 GTS’s, we will have at least 2 Ferrari’s, 1 Lamborghini, a fabulous AMG GT and a myriad of other fast BMW M series cars….

Here is the account of the trip last year.

September.

Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix.

Fri 14 Sep – Sun 16 Sep 2018.

This is one of the most dramatic and atmospheric races on the calendar which takes place at night. This will be our first visit to this now-iconic event.

Using public roads around the Marina Bay area, the circuit utilises powerful lighting systems to almost replicate daylight conditions.

October.

Austin, Texas. The US Grand Prix.
Fri 19 Oct – Sun 21 Oct 2018.

We will be returning to the The Circuit of The Americas (COTA), the first purpose-built F1 facility in the US. We have not attended this event for a few years but we will hopefully do so this year, especially as we have some interesting driving routes to explore in Texas in  a typical American muscle car such as a Shelby Ford Mustang.

November.

Last year, we drove up the fabulous Jebel Jais maintain road on the border between the U.A.E and Oman. We tacked this epic road in a Porsche 911 Carrera S. Our account of this epic drive can be found here.  This year we will tackle the second-highest mountain in the U.A.E, the Jebel Hafeet, Al Ain which is 4,000 ft high.

Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
Fri 23 Nov – Sun 25 Nov 2018.

Monaco in the desert. An outlandish, extravagant and absolutely fitting location for the Formula 1 season Finale.

The 2017 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
